- The committe was formed in 1966 by Mr Charles Simeons, as a local committee. Mr Simeons stepped down as chairman in 1982, who was then replaced by Mrs Betty Willett. In 2002 CRC merged with Imperial Cancer Research fund to form Cancer Research UK. There is the annual Betty Willett 10km run in May every year,this started in 1982 at Whipsnade Zoo, moving to Stockwood Park in 1998, which to date has raised £300,000.00. With other events the committee has raised £1,376.000.00.
Hi, Yes,I attended. It was as it always a fun day. This year however it was marred by the bad choice of venue. The venue was not suitable, as there was only one entry point to the car park. with so many cars this caused a tail back right the way on to the M1. It took me longer (45 mins to be precise) to get just from juntion 10 to the venue than it did from my house to junction 10. I hope you use a different venue next year.
